The Shuttleworth Weaving family crafts a range of carpets, throws and curtains in the hills of KwaZulu-Natal. Rob sets up the intricate looms while Julia dyes the yarn to clients’ specifications in vats fired by invasive wood.

Each piece is created from mohair, wool or polypropylene by an experienced and skilled team, many of whom have been with Shuttleworth Weaving for decades, or who like Rob, grew up beneath their mothers’ deftly weaving hands.

Find freshly woven, ready to go beauties in the Nottingham Road Showroom from Monday to Saturday. You are invited to make an appointment to visit the farm studio (12kms from the showroom), to observe the process, meet the weavers in person, and arrange a custom-made, bespoke piece to suit your needs.
